Section 1
It’s important the Trustees understand your organisation is appropriately managed; the Trustees are looking for a general overview or your organisation and its structure.
They want to know about your organisation, who you are and the people involved.
Make sure you give us all the correct contact details and organisational information.
Section 2
The Trustees want to know about your project, what are your aims and planned outcomes?
Where will it happen, who will deliver the project and how. When will you know you have been successful?
Who are the people who will benefit from your project and how will you know what difference you have made to their lives and the wider community?
Bring your project to life, help the Trustees understand why you are so motivated to do this work.
Section 3
The Trustees require a detailed breakdown of the expenditure you are asking the trust to fund. You must provide documentary evidence in the form of quotes, estimates and offer letters etc.
We want to know what other funding bodies you have applied to, how much they are contributing or the amount you have asked for. Tell us about any fundraising events you are undertaking to raise the necessary finance for your project.
Be specific and give as much detail as you can. Applications without this information will not be considered.
Section 4
If you have previously applied to the Mary Salmond Trust ensure you give as much detail as possible.
If a previous application has been unsuccessful, you must wait for 6 months after being notified before reapplying.
Previous successful applicants must wait for at least 2 years from the time of receiving a grant before reapplying. Your new application must state the amount of the previous award, and provide a report on the project for which the grant was received.
Section 5
Please provide the details of an individual who is independent of your organisation and knows your work well. They must be prepared to speak about your application and provide a reference. We may require to contact them, therefore their approval must be gained by asking for their signature.
Ensure your referee provides a phone number and email address. This will assist your application process and ensure a timely decision can be made.
Please make sure that the person who has completed the application signs the declaration. Please note, that all correspondence will be addressed to this individual.
Finally
Remember to enclose a copy of your annual accounts.
Don’t forget to make a copy of the entire application for your records and your referee.
You must remember to submit quotes for any expenditure detailed in your application.
Ensure you have fully completed all the necessary sections of your application, the Trustee’s cannot consider incomplete applications.

The Mary Salmond Trust was set up in 2007 by the former First Minister Alex Salmond in memory of his mother Mary Salmond.
In the year to 31 March 2020 the Trustees met 3 times and approved 23 applications for funding support totalling £8,826
The Mary Salmond Trust provides financial assistance to individuals and organisations in North East Scotland who meet set criteria.
